It's State Conference Time
The state executive council has started planning an exciting state leadership conference. Everything you need to know about the conference is available online.
The 38th Annual State Leadership Conference will be held on March 18-21, 2010, at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This event provides a wonderful opportunity for students from various parts of Michigan to demonstrate their skills in assessment events, leadership seminars, campaigns and elections, and much more.
Soon we will have a complete Web site dedicated solely to the SLC. In the meantime, visit our SLC page for more details on the conference by clicking here.

Join in Service for Ronald McDonald House
(NOTE: There are two flyers available for your chapter to use to promote the Ronald McDonald House Charities. Visit our documents page to download both flyers.)
This year's state service project is the Ronald McDonald House Charities. These charities provide places for families to stay close to their ill children; they provide a home away from home. Their mission is to create, find and support programs that directly improve the health and well being of children. The first RMH opened in Philadelphia in 1974. Since then, they have spread to 287 locations in 52 countries across the world.
This year, we will be participating in the Pop Tab Collection Recycling Program. This program was started in 1987. We hope to raise 800 pounds of pop tabs by the state leadership conference. Although this may seem like an overwhelming task, it really isn't. If each chapter contributes in some way, we will shatter our goal. We ask every chapter to start a collection and continue adding to it throughout the year. You can then bring the collected tabs to the SLC where the RMHC will pick them up and recycle them.
Aside from collecting pop tabs, we will also be having a dollar dance at the SLC. There will be a $1 entrance fee at the dance. This small fee will go directly to the RMHC, helping them continue to assist families in need.
The RMHC is a great charity that helps families all over the world better cope with the sickness of a family member. They believe that when you change a child's life, you change a family's, which can also change the community, and ultimately the world. We can be a part of that change this year. As a state council, we encourage each and every member to be an active participant in this year's project. By doing so, we are all making a difference in the lives of so many people.

Officers Always Available
Have questions or comments regarding Michigan BPA? The Michigan BPA State Executive Council is always available for help, and is only a click away!
As you venture on into another year of Business Professionals of America, you might find yourself asking a lot of questions. Whether those questions are about competitions, torch awards, special recognition awards, conferences, or ideas for chapter activities and fundraising, the state executive council is the first place you should turn. These members have risen through the ranks of Michigan BPA throughout the years, and have learned some very valuable information in doing so. They can certainly be a great resource.
When you visit our Web site, you may contact a state officer by clicking on the drop-down menu that says “Jump To” and click on “State Executive Council.” For general questions and concepts, you might find it most useful to contact the officer representing your region (or the closest region with a representing officer). However, if you would like specific information, we might suggest contacting the officer with a position that deals with your situation. For example, if you would like to know something about parliamentary procedure, you should contact the state parliamentarian. If you would like to know about an event that happened in a previous year, you might contact the state historian.
The state executive council also puts out a bi-monthly publication called News & Notes , where officers write about what they feel other members should know. If you do not have any specific questions, but would like to learn more about the organization, consider reading News & Notes ! A link can also be found on under the “Documents” section of the Web site.
Whatever your situation, the state executive council is always here to help. It's what they were elected to do! A simple e-mail message could solve all of your problems!
